About the Summer Picnic

The annual CSS Summer Picnic is famous in DC for its great food, fun activities and amazing raffle prizes.

The picnic includes a delicious Mexican style menu along with wine, beer, fruit and other snacks and drinks.

The picnic is a family friendly event that has activities for all ages. In past years, the Summer picnic highlights have included tasty Mexican food, music, a raffle, games, an ice cream cart, “Taste of California” (a table with California fruits, nuts, wine, etc.).

This is a favorite event among members.  Mark your calendar now because this is a must attend event!

Entrance & Tickets & Raffle Tickets

This event is open to all current CSS members at no additional cost. This event doesn’t require a ticket(s) to attend but please RSVP to the event.

If you would like to bring a guest(s), please make sure to have them purchase a CSS membership(s) /  Summer Picnic ticket(s) online beforehand or they can purchase on-site at the event, day of.

Getting There

By Metro:

Take the Green Line to the Navy Yard metro. Exit at M and New Jersey Avenues, SE.  Walk down M Street (keep the CVS on your left), take a right on 4th Street and the picnic is directly past the Trapeze School.

Parking:
There’s a lot next to the field where parking is $5 a car for the day.

Bikes:
CapitalBikeShare has a rack at M Street and New Jersey Ave., SE. There are also bike racks available at the picnic.

Picnic Guidelines

The Summer Picnic is an all day event, so, you may want to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable clothes, a camera, a big bag (to hold raffle prizes), a blanket or towel (if you want to camp out on the grass) and tennis shoes (if playing volleyball).  We have handicap-accessible portable toilets available.
